About
Mariam Fatehi, Ph.D., is a graduate of the University of Georgia School of Social Work and is board-certified in clinical social work, based in Atlanta, Georgia. She completed a research fellowship at the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School. She currently works as an instructor at the Georgia State University School of Social Work while pursuing advanced training in psychoanalytic theory at the Emory University Psychoanalytic Institute.
She also holds an M.A. in Clinical Psychology from the Tehran Psychiatric Institute, where she trained in an eclectic approach grounded in contemporary psychoanalytic theory. Prior to relocating to the United States, she was a licensed clinical psychologist in Tehran, with nine years of experience in both private practice and at the Family and Child Clinic of Shahid Beheshti University.
In her clinical work, Dr. Fatehi supports individuals navigating challenges related to identity, adjustment, trauma, eating disorders, anxiety, and depression. She works primarily with young adults and adults who are interested in deepening self-awareness and gaining insight into their relational patterns. She also offers couples and family therapy to support the development of healthier and more meaningful relationships.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Fatehi has authored several peer-reviewed journal articles and conference presentations on mental health and substance misuse, interpersonal trauma, parent–child relationships, emerging adulthood, and personality development. She serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Evidence-Based Social Work, contributing peer reviews for multiple academic journals.
